Geriatric Technician
Program Description:Provide advanced educational training for certified nursing assistants working with older adults and their caregivers in various community-based long-term care settings.
Entry Level Salary:
$8 –$13 per hour

The care of our elderly population is becoming one of the fastest growing industries in the Tulsa area as well as the nation. The long-term care industry is faced with the challenge to meet healthcare and the daily living needs of our aging society. As the numbers increase and the demand grows, the need for well trained caregivers is vital. In 2001, a Governor's Continuum of Care Task Force recommended "an enhanced certified nurse aide education program" be developed to increase recruitment and retention of certified nursing assistants into the long-term care industry in Oklahoma.
