Transportation Manager
Program Description:Demonstrate knowledge of transportation safety and regulations with emphasis on accident prevention, investigation, and analysis, occupational safety and loss control, and the handling of hazardous materials. Understand fundamentals of materials management and physical distribution, including production and inventory control, purchasing, transportation, warehousing and materials handling, order processing, communications, and problems and issues related to logistics. Demonstrate knowledge of basic commercial vehicle operations law and driving skills through the attainment of the Commercial Drivers License and driving internship.

$33,700 per year
Local Employment Outlook:
The outlook for this industry appears very good. Central Technology Center in Drumright, OK is currently training over 700 students per year as new truck drivers. The average age of these new truck drivers is 40, so the opportunity for a career track in the trucking industry that the program provides will be important to them. The program would also fit in with the American Trucking Association's 2-year pilot project to start training 18-20 year olds as drivers in the transportation industry.
