Sign Language Interpreter

Job description:
This program can prepare students who have already attained an associate or bachelor’s degree in another field for a career in interpreting for persons who are deaf or hard of hearing. It emphasizes American Sign Language, the appreciation of deaf culture and the process of interpreting and transliterating.

Entry-level salary range:
$10,000 – $32,000/annually    Certificate option
$20,000 - $38,000/annually    Associate degree

Local employment outlook:
There is a continued need for interpreters and for upgrade training for those already employed as interpreters, especially in government agencies, health and social service agencies, companies, educational institutions and community affairs.

American Sign Language, Deaf Culture and History, Interpreting, Sign to Voice Interpreting, Interpreting in Specialized Settings
